Catching Up With Silas Bohannon

2011 Neosho graduate Silas Bohannon is currently playing at North Central Missouri Community College.  Sibo is a RHP and has recently gotten some attention for his fastball velocity.  He is listed at 6’4″ and 270 pounds although he weighs in closer to 250.  Sibo has been working in the 91-94 MPH range and has topped out at 98.  Sibo is starting to get serious looks from NCAA D1 schools as well as professional scouts.  Sibo took the time to answer some questions for his Alma mater.

Silas Bohannon is currently playing at North Central Missouri College. Sibo is a 2011 graduate of Neosho High School.

What are some of your favorite high school memories?

My favorite high school memories were beating Webb City and playing with all the guys I grew up with.

How did you end up selecting North Central Missouri Community College?

I ended up at NC because that was the only offer I had out of high school.  I was excited to get the chance to continue playing.

How is baseball different in college than in the COC?

College baseball is everyday, all year.  You have to love it, it isn’t just a hobby anymore.

If you could talk to our team, what advice would you give them on high school? What about on baseball?

The advice for school would be to take as many advanced classes as you can and do your best.  For baseball I would say long toss every day and do extra running too.

What have you done in training that’s made the biggest difference for you?

I long tossed with a softball all summer.  I also ran sprints with a parachute.

What kind of advice would you give a high school pitcher?

I would tell them to really develop a change up.  If you have a good change up then it makes your fastball that much more effective.

There’s been some draft buzz around you lately, how are you preparing for the draft?

It’s really exciting, but I still have to go out and work hard and make sure I get better everyday.  I have made changes where I can now throw my change up and cutter for strikes.  I’m no longer just a fastball pitcher.

If you could attend one event in history, what would it be and why?  If you could take 3 people with you, who would they be and why?

I would attend Felix Hernandez’s perfect game with my dad, mom, and my grandpa.  King Felix has been my favorite pitcher since he came up at such a young age and a perfect game is a rare feat.

Thanks Sibo for taking the time to check in.  We wish you the best of luck as you continue your collegiate career.
